1. Profile Picture Blur Face

When you are setting your profile photo, you can blur your face by clicking on the "Blur Face" feature.

2. Note to self

If you want to message or save some notes to yourself, then this feature works excellent in that case.

3. Disappearing Messages

If you want your message should automatically delete after seconds, minutes, or days, then you can use this feature.

To enable the disappearing message feature:

1. Click on three dots on the right top corner
2. Clic on disappearing messages
3. Select the deletion time interval as per your choice

4. Send Text SMS 

When you want to send a text SMS to your contact, you can easily send it from the signal app itself. Isn't it a cool feature?

How to send text SMS:

1. Long press on the Send button on the keyboard
2. Select your SIM card 
3. Type Message 
4. Send Message

5. Conversation Settings 

You can set the disappearing messages time interval and change the chat color. It helps you to distinguish between important contacts and conversations.

How to change the chat color:

1. Click on the three dots on the top right corner 
2. Click on conversation settings
3. Click on the chat color 
4. Select & set the color

6. Search Conversations

If you want to search for some old conversation with your contacts, you can easily find it using the search bar.

How to search conversation:

1. Click on the three dots on the top right corner 
2. Click on search
3. Search your conversation

7. Stickers & Emojis

A wide variety of emojis and stickers are available in-app.

8. Send Media files

You can send media files such as photos and videos by clicking on a camera icon on the type message bar. 

9. Message Reactions

You can send a reaction to messages just like an Instagram, you know?

How to send message reaction:

1. Select and hold the message 
2. Select the emoji reaction
3. Send

10. Send Locations, Gifs, Files, Or Contacts

You can send your exact location. So, your contact reaches you by following the map. Besides location, you can send files, gifs & contacts, etc.

How to send location:

1. Click on the + icon 
2. Click on the feature you want to send

11. Send Audio Message

You can send audio messages by clicking on the mic icon.

12. Conversation Pin/Delete/Archive

You can easily Pin/Delete/Archive your conversation contacts.

1. Select the contact
2. Select the option (Pin/Delete/Archive)

13. Mark Read/Unread

You can mark your conversation as read or unread as we can do it in Gmail. You can do it with a single contact or multiple too.

How to Mark Read/Unread:

14. SMS & MMS

Sometimes we take a screenshot of our chats, but it can be problematic afterward. So, how to disable the screenshot feature?

1. Click on settings
2. Click on privacy
3. Click on screen security to enable

After that, if you or your contact try to take a screenshot, then it's not possible. It adds an extra layer of security.

16. Incognito Keyboard

When you type words in your keywords and have enabled the Incognito Keybaord feature, then the word suggestions or logs will not show while typing messages.

How to enable the Incognito Keyboard:

1. Click on settings
2. Click on privacy
3. Click on Incognito Keyboard to enable

17. Screen Lock

You can screen the lock signal app for better security. So, no one can open it in your absence & misuse it.

How to screen lock:

18. Read Receipts

If you want to check your message has been read or not, then you can enable the read receipt feature.

You can enable download media automatically when connected to wifi. You can change the message font size & by pressing enter the message sent. 

23. Chat Backups

You can take a backup of your chats directly to your device. Not on google drive or any cloud storage.

 

How to chat backups:

1. Click on settings

3. Click on chat backups
4. Click on Turn On
5. Choose a folder
6. Click Enable Chat backups

24. Storage

You can check and clear the space used by the app.

25. Linked Devices

You can use the signal app on multiple devices and operating systems, such as Windows, MAC, & Linux, etc.

How to check liked devices:

1. Click on settings
2. Click on linked devices

So, these are some hidden features of the signal app. Out of these screenshot blocks, the message disappears, etc. features make the signal app more powerful compare to other private messaging apps.

But some of the features that were missing are status & contact online/offline status.
